FRENCH PRESS

WHAT YOU NEED
French Press brewer
Coffee grinder
Scale

BREW STEPS
-
Rinse French Press with hot water (205°F)
-
Grind 1g of coffee (coarse) for every 12g of water
-
Add ground coffee into the empty press, add your hot water (fill halfway) and start the timer
-
At 1:00, stir the coffee to break the 'crust'
-
Fill the French Press with water, leaving about two inches
-
At 4:00, press down on the knob to lower the plunger - apply slight press
-
Serve coffee immediately to avoid over extraction

AEROPRESS
GENERAL INFO
Brew Method: AeroPress (Inverted)

Grind Size: Medium - Fine
WHAT YOU NEED
AeroPress brewer
AeroPress filter
Coffee grinder
Scale
Kettle

BREW STEPS
-
Insert AeroPress filter into the AeroPress detachable filter basket
-
Rinse the AeroPress filter with hot water (205°F)
-
Push the AeroPress plunger into the chamber until it reaches No. 4 marking - place on a flat surface with flared end up.
-
Grind one rounded AeroPress scope (~2.5 tbsp) of coffee (medium-fine)
-
Add ground coffee into the AeroPress chamber using the AeroPress funnel
-
Pour hot water into the chamber just above No. 2 marking and start the timer
-
Gently stir with the AeroPress paddle, let sit for 45 seconds
-
Pour hot water above No. 1 marking - gently stir again at 1:15
-
Fasten the filter basket onto the chamber - flip the AeroPress onto your mug
-
Gently press down the plunger with steady pressure - stop when you here hissing

HARIO V60
GENERAL INFO

WHAT YOU NEED
Hario V60 dripper
Hario V60 filter
Hario V60 range servrer
Coffee grinder
Scale

BREW STEPS
-
Fold filter into cone shape and rinse in Hario dripper with hot water (205°F) into the ranger server
-
Discard rinse water and grind 1g of coffee (medium-fine) for every 16g of water
-
Pour ground coffee into the filter and gently shake to level the coffee bed
-
Pour hot water over coffee grounds and start time - pour twice the amount of water you have into your grinds - pour slowly from center working outwards in a circular motion
-
Let it bloom for 30 seconds (de-gassing the coffee)
-
Slowly start adding hot water using the same speed and circular motion - add water every 10-15 seconds until you reach desired amount or 3:00

Remove the dripper and pour the coffee from the range server into a mug.

CHEMEX
GENERAL INFO

WHAT YOU NEED
Chemex brewer
Chemex filter
Coffee grinder
Scale

BREW STEPS

Fold filter into cone shape (one side of the cone has three layers) and place into the top of the Chemex brewer - rinse with hot water (205°F) into the brewer
-
Discard rinse water and grind 1g of coffee (medium) for every 15g of water
-
Pour ground coffee into the filter and gently shake to level the coffee bed
-
Pour hot water over coffee grounds and start time - pour twice the amount of water you have into your grinds - pour slowly from center working outwards in a circular motion
-
Let it bloom for 45 seconds (de-gassing the coffee)
-
Slowly start adding hot water using the same speed and circular motion - keep the water level a quarter inch below the top of the Chemex
-
At 1:45, fill the brewer to the top
-
4:00 or at your desired amount of coffee, lift filter out of brewer and discard - pour into mug

MOKA POT
GENERAL INFO
Brew Method: Percolator / Espresso
Level: Beginner
Bean to Cup: ~5 minutes

WHAT YOU NEED
Moka Pot
Coffee grinder
Scale
Timer

BREW STEPS

Twist and separate the Moka Pot's top and bottom chambers, remove funnel shape filter
-
Fill the bottom chamber with cold water - do not exceed the level notches
-
Place funnel filter into bottom chamber at a 7g of water to 1g of coffee ratio
-
Grind coffee (fine) and fill the funnel shaped filter with ground coffee - gently shake and level coffee bed
-
Twist top and bottom chambers until tight
-
Place Moka Pot on heat source (stove top) - and turn on heat
-
Brew cycle is complete when top chamber is full of coffee (3-6 mins) - turn off heat source
-
Pour into mug - allow coffee to cool to a comfortable temperature before drinking

ESPRESSO
GENERAL INFO

WHAT YOU NEED
Espresso machine

Tamper
Timer
Espresso glass
BREW STEPS

Remove portafilter - clean out the basket removing oils and residue
-
Measure and grind coffee (fine) 16g of coffee (up to 22g for a single espresso shot shot)
-
Fill your basket with ground coffee and level with your finger
-
Tamp your basket by applying pressure from the tamper until it feels like the coffee is pushing back
-
Turn the tamper to polish your coffee in the basket - ensure the coffee bed is levelled
-
Purge water through the espresso machine - this will clean any leftover residue
-
Position the portafilter in the group head - place espresso glass under the portafilter
-
Start a timer and press brew - it should take 23-26 seconds to brew a 1.5-2.0 oz

AUTO DRIP

Measure amount of coffee desired - grind coffee (medium)

Measure water at a ratio of 17g of water to every 1g of coffee and pour water into coffee machine reservoir
-
Place paper filter into machine filter basket and rinse with hot water
-
Put ground coffee into the filter and start brewer
-
Pour coffee into your favourite mug

IBRIK
GENERAL INFO
Brew Method: Ibrik
Level: Intermediate

Heat source (gas burner, stove top)

BREW STEPS

Preheat your heat source on low-medium setting
-
Pour 112g of water into your ibrik
-
Grind 14g of coffee (fine) and pour grounds into the water
-
Place the ibrik onto the heat source and let it sit for 30 seconds
-
Stir the the coffee grounds in the water
-
Around 2:30 there should be a thick foam forming in the ibrik - raise or lower the heat to hit this mark
-
When the foam reaches the top of the ibrik, remove completely from the heat source
-
Pour coffee into coffee mugs - let it sit for another 2.5 mins to finish the brewing
SYPHON
GENERAL INFO

Level: Advanced

WHAT YOU NEED
Syphon brewer
Syphon burner
Syphon filter
Coffee grinder
Scale
Kettle

BREW STEPS
-
Heat water (203°F) ink kettle - let it stand for a few minutes
-
Grind coffee (medium) at 1g of coffee to 15g ratio
-
Rinse Syphon filter using hot water - place filter into upper chamber of Syphon (ensure it's centered)
-
Place the bottom chamber and holder onto the scale and set scale to 0g (tare)
-
Fill bottom of chamber with hot water to desired amount
-
Remove scale and attach top chamber
-
Transfer the Syphon to the Syphon burner - heat up the water to boiling
-
As coffee transfers to upper chamber, stir to reduce bubbling - reduce heat
-
Add ~20g of water and stir well
-
Let the coffee settle undisturbed for 1 minute - turn off heat source
-
Allow coffee to draw down completely - remove chamber
-
Serve and enjoy
